3 Takedowns from Wrist Control

Wrist control isn’t just about slowing your opponent down — it’s about creating angles, breaking posture, and setting up clean offense. Here are 3 effective takedowns you can hit straight from wrist control:

1. Ankle Pick
Control the wrist, post on the head or shoulder, and use their reaction to level change. Step outside, drop low, and grab the ankle as you steer them down with the upper body. Quick and clean—especially when they start to pull away.

2. Outside Single
From wrist control, pull to create tension, then step across and attack the outside leg. Keep tight to the leg, shelf it quickly, and drive through or cut the corner. This works great when they try to circle out or pressure back in.

3. Russian Wrist Whip
With same side (as dominant hand) wrist control, fake the takedown by level changing and even stepping in, when they take the bait pull their arm across your body in a "C" motion to whip them to the ground and cover.

These are high-percentage setups that work at every level—and they all start with solid wrist control.
