immigrant parents are truly built different. they went through a lot to get us to where we are today. but at times, their parenting style can be very rigid and unrelenting, to the point where it can have lasting effects that carry over into our lives today. and for some people, this leaves them resenting their parents or having a poor relationship with them. this is a video essay to help me better conceptualize my thoughts on the effects of strict parenting styles and how i was able to have a better relationship with my own parents in spite of those effects.
