The Tesla Model 3 and Tesla Model Y Standard Range Plus and Long Range come with Aero Wheels, which are essentially an alloy wheel with a hubcap designed to streamline the airflow around the wheels to increase aerodynamic efficiency. A lot of people remove the aero wheel caps/covers because the alloys underneath look quite nice, but how efficient are the Tesla aero wheels without the aero wheel covers?
In this video, we repeat the same route 4 times, twice with the aero covers on and twice with them off. The 27.7-mile route we took involved going at 20, 30, 40, 50, 60, and 70 mph so it was a good balance and representation of what you might do on a journey.
