Bengaluru didn’t become the Garden City by chance—it was carefully planned, one tree at a time.
Back in 1908, Maharaja Krishnaraja Wadiyar IV invited a German botanist, Gustav Krumbiegel, to make the city bloom all year long.
They planted colorful trees like gulmohars, cassias, and tabebuias that flower in different seasons. This smart idea, called serial planting, means Bengaluru’s streets burst with flowers throughout the year.
Thanks to their love for nature, the city stays vibrant and green even today. Now, it’s our turn to protect and grow this beautiful legacy.
Which season’s flowers do you love the most in Bengaluru?
