Designing for the SpinLaunch Launch Environment

While low mass and low-density materials like electrical equipment and solar cells are inherently compatible with the SpinLaunch system, some larger mass components may require modification. In this video, SpinLaunch mechanical engineer, Sev Sandomirsky, shares insights into the design process of the reaction wheel, a critical component that controls and repositions a satellite while in orbit. Sev explains how the satellite engineering team designed a unique deployment process, so the reaction wheel is stabilized during launch and then releases to its normal position so it can function as needed.
