What are filters and triggers and how do we utilise them? If we have a trading strategy that strategy is going to include filters and triggers. A filter means that you need to have these conditions met before you can move to the trigger phase. Filters help keep you out of rubbish trades. You can have multiple filters for your traders but usually just one trigger.

Examples of Filters
Fast moving average is above he Slow moving average
Oversold on RSI or Stochastic or CCI..etc
Trading in Upper Bollinger Band
1st hour of the day
Daily range is greater than the ATR
Day 4 of trend
Prior day narrow range

Examples of Triggers (executing the actual trades)
Break of high
Opening print so (the opening print of a new candle, a new 15minute, hour, day..etc)
Moving average crossover
Oversold to Neutral (oscillator)
Sell at resistance
