We here on Earth are used using computers for almost everything , everyday, and we accept that they will crash or lose data at some point. But if you're in space and the computer controls your spacecraft, the last thing you want it to do is to glitch or crash, because it might just well be the last thing it ever does and it will be the last thing you witness.
