Insurances Sucks. Period.

Patients rely on insurance to seek care but what they don’t understand is that insurance actually doesn’t do much for them.

Just because they PAY for coverage doesn’t mean they’re going to get GOOD coverage.

Insurance only pays for basic procedures like routine exams, cleanings and fillings. They don’t cover procedures that would help restore your patient’s oral health or function.

For example, 50% of Americans are diagnosed with periodontal disease, which for most means 3-4 visits/year for maintenance of the oral bio of bone loss. However, insurance only covers two dental visits a year and a deep clean once every 2 years.

So no matter what your professional recommendation is, insurance deprives your patients of care.

@ryancoulondds says that a shift in the patient perception is necessary for patient buy-in of the ideal treatment plan. And when it happens, they’re all in.
