Default to Trust is the single most common and biggest leadership mistake that I see. Well, NOT defaulting to trust is.
If you cannot trust your employees then they will not trust or respect you.
Every leader needs to start from a position of trust. Trust your people and they will respond accordingly. They will be your supporters, they will dig in when needed, and they will take ownership and help you achieve more than you expected.
Distrust your people and, again, they will respond accordingly. They will resent you, they will not have your back, they will leave at the first sign of trouble, and they will not help you achieve.
