Auschwitz: Hell on Earth | The Most Heinous Crimes and Tortures Ever Told

Auschwitz: Hell on Earth | The Most Heinous Crimes and Tortures Ever Told

In 1940, Nazi authorities established a concentration camp on the outskirts of the Polish city of Oświęcim. This place, known as Auschwitz, was progressively expanded to become a complex that combined functions of detention, forced labor, and extermination.

During its operation, more than a million people were deported there, coming from various countries occupied by the Nazi regime. The majority did not survive. Transports arrived continuously, and upon disembarking, prisoners were subjected to selection processes that determined their immediate fate.

The facilities included barracks, gas chambers, crematoria, and industrial areas linked to collaborating companies. The camp administration applied systematic methods to exploit prisoners for labor, eliminate those deemed unfit, and appropriate their belongings.

Preserved records, survivor testimonies, and material evidence have allowed for the reconstruction of Auschwitz's internal dynamics. How did the most atrocious crimes committed in this place unfold, and what mechanisms made their execution possible?
