A Journey to “The Goonies” Filming Location, Cannon Beach, Featuring One-Eyed Willy's Landmark Rocks

Documenting the journey from Washington State into Oregon State to find the famous Cannon Beach, featured in one of the greatest 80s films of all time, “The Goonies”.

Hopefully this will give you an idea of the stunning area and if you plan the journey yourselves it might help you decide where to stop and take pictures and videos for yourselves.

Here’s a list of the shots from the journey in order:

Scene 1 - Driving by the coast on the 101 Freeway south in Washington state near Chinook.
Scene 2 - Middle Village & Station Camp, a Historical landmark in Chinook, Washington State
Scene 3 - Astoria-Megler Bridge, the gateway to Oregon towards Uniontown and Astoria in Oregon
Scene 4 - The East Mooring Basin Boat Ramp in Astoria, Oregon
Scene 5 - Driving through Astoria towards Uniontown **We have another video in Astoria that shows you the actual Goonies House owned by Mikey’s family in the film. Check it out here:    • The Real Goonies House in Oregon…What They...
Scene 6 - Driving over the Neawanna Creek Bridge in Oregon
Scene 7 - Neahkahnie Viewpoint overlooking Neahkahnie Beach (Note, we did this at the end of the journey further south of Cannon Beach but it has been edited in the wrong order - sorry!)
Scene 7 - The Haystach Rock and the Needles Rocks on S Hemlock St driving along Ecola State Park
Scene 8 - The turn in the road on 2005 S Hemlock St overlooking Tolovana State Beach and showing The Jockey Cap rocks
Scene 9 - The Tillamook Lighthouse offshore from Cannon Beach. Built in 1881 the lighthouse was deactivated in 1957 due to the treacherous commute to maintain it.
Scene 10 - 198 W Van Buren St - one of the many entrances to Cannon Beach
Scene 11 - Finally there! Cannon Beach where they filmed part of “The Goonies” with the famous “landmark” One-eyed Willy Rocks.

Fun trivia: In "The Goonies", the children never have a specific name for Haystack Rock itself, but they refer to it as a "landmark" on One-Eyed Willy's map.
