iPad Mini 16GB WiFi vs iPad Mini Retina 128GB WiFi comparison

This is comparison between the iPad Mini 16GB WiFi and the iPad Mini Retina 128GB WiFi. At first glance both devices look the same. Both in the space grey colour. When both devices are off the screen of the iPad Mini looks more grey and the iPad Mini Retina is more black. When you put them side by side you can notice that the iPad mini is smaller in height. In this case 0,3mm. The newer model has a second microphone for better audio recording and noise cancelling. The big difference between the two models is the resolution. The iPad Mini Retina has a resolution of 2048x1536 with a pixel density of 326 pixels per inch. The highest density of any iPad model. All images are very sharp en clear. The iPad Mini has a resolution of 1024x768 with a pixel density of 132 ppi. Once you've used a Retina device, all non Retina devices look very low res. Some have referred to the screen of the iPad Mini Retina as less saturated. The colours on the newer iPad are indeed somewhat less outspoken in contrast to the iPad mini but it's hard to see and not really an issue for me. Another difference is the A7 64 bit chip in the iPad Mini Retina. This is a very fast chip which is capable of loading apps with great speed. The difference in speed between devices is present but negligible. Apps finish loading within a second or a bit longer between both devices in the favor of the newer model. When newer apps arrive and older apps are optimized for the new A7 chip I think we will see more distinct differences in loading times and usage. So the important question is which device should I buy? If you are on a budget and/or use the iPad mainly for reading email/browsing/casual games then this is the device for you. If you want the best screen available, with the fastest chip, to play the newest games in high resolution in a portable size then this device should be your choice.
