There are many well-known and celebrated seafood spots in Mangalore. However, those in the know head to Yermal to a rustic highway eatery where Ashok Anna and his family cook the freshest catch in the most authentic village style. I discovered Laxmi Janardhana a year ago when I stopped here for a delicious kappa roti breakfast, and when I saw the fresh seafood arrive from the market, I made a mental note to return for lunch.
If you want to taste robust and rustic flavours of kudla, untouched by commercial conveniences and shortcuts, definitely make the trek here. It’s well worth the effort whether you are in Mangalore or Udupi or anywhere in the general area.
