However, Japanese dreams of empire would not last. Their attack on Pearl Harbour had awoken the industrial might of America, whose ability to outproduce their enemy by such staggering proportions, made their ultimate victory in the Pacific all but inevitable.
The mass production of liberty ships, aircraft carriers, wildcat fighters and B29 bombers turned America into a new world superpower, with their rate of production something no nation and especially Japan could compete with.
During 1941 alone, the US produced more ships than Japan would during the entire war, and by the time the conflict ended, they had produced 17 new aircraft carriers, nearly 300,000 aircraft and over 80,000 tanks, with over half of all industrial production around the globe now taking place in the United States.
