Buddha’s teachings on reincarnation are deeply tied to the concept of rebirth, but they differ from traditional reincarnation beliefs. In Buddhism, there is no permanent soul that moves from one life to another. Instead, life is seen as a continuous cycle of cause and effect, shaped by karma—our actions and intentions.
Rather than a fixed self-being reborn, Buddhism teaches that mental and physical energies continue in a new form, influenced by past actions. This cycle, known as samsara, is considered unsatisfactory and painful, and liberation from it—nirvana—is the ultimate goal.
Different Buddhist traditions interpret the concept of rebirth in various ways. Some, like Theravada Buddhism, believe rebirth happens instantly, while others, like Tibetan Buddhism, describe an intermediate state (bardo) lasting up to 49 days before the next life begins
