India, Pakistan Extend Ceasefire; Pak PM Shehbaz Sharif Now Wants To Talk Peace | N18G

Pakistan’s Prime Minister, Shehbaz Sharif, on Thursday extended an offer of talks to India, stating that Pakistan is ready to engage "for peace." He added that the "conditions for peace" would include the Kashmir issue. Following this, Foreign Minister Ishaq Dar announced that the country’s army has decided to extend the ceasefire until May 18. This decision came after military-to-military communication between the two countries. India and Pakistan have also agreed to consider steps for reducing troops along the border and in forward areas. Meanwhile, both countries have traded accusations regarding the mismanagement of their nuclear arsenals. India’s Defence Minister, Rajnath Singh, stated that Pakistan’s nuclear weapons should be placed under United Nations surveillance. In response, Pakistan’s foreign ministry urged the international community to investigate a nuclear black market allegedly operating in India.
