In this video, we’re breaking down the easiest and cheapest way you can withdraw your bitcoin from an exchange, using the lightning network. There are many reasons why it is sensible to withdraw your bitcoin from an exchange after purchasing, one of which being to load up a hot wallet in order to make payment transactions in bitcoin for goods and services. The best way to do this is by utilising lightning which is a layer 2 technology built on the bitcoin blockchain. The advantage of lightning rather than sending a transaction over the base chain is that it is instant and its usually FREE. Lightning is not as secure however so making larger payments is not usually advised and you are unable to withdraw into cold storage using lightning. We will go over how to withdraw your bitcoin into cold storage in another video very soon.

So in this video we will look at all the steps involved to withdraw your bitcoin on lightning from the Kraken exchange, into Wallet of Satoshi (less secure hot wallet). Hot wallets are those used mainly for making bitcoin payments. As i say they are less secure, but very convenient and easy to use. there are many options out there but WoS is very simple to get going.
