The Ablin Residence by Frank Lloyd Wright, 1958-61. In 1958 Millie Ablin wrote a letter to Frank Lloyd Wright expressing her desire for him to design/build her and her family a home in a little town called Bakersfield. At the time and to this day the Ablin residence is the only Frank Lloyd Wright home in Bakersfield. David Coffey (@davidacoffey), the homes care-taker shares with us the story of the Ablin Family and how they were able to get the prolific Architect to agree to designing and building their home for a family of 8. The Ablin family is the original family of the home and currently the only family that has ever lived in the home full-time essentially making this remarkable home a one family residence. The current owner alongside David Coffey plan to create a foundation for the home to maintain, preserve and educate the community for decades to come.
