How to safely customize your Shopify theme and keep it update-friendly.

Professional developers have tools like Git that can track code changes, and make it easier to move customizations to an updated theme. However, these tools are difficult to use and usually not worth learning for the casual coder - store owners or designers who just want to modify their theme.

Instead, you can try to keep your code changes separate from the theme code.
