The next big stage in our van conversion was to make sure that it holds heat in cold temperatures, and keeps heat out in hot locations. Our goal is to eliminate the need for heating and air conditioning to be as energy efficient as possible, which is why we’ve opted for ventilation fans and hemp 🥰

Here’s what we did to make this stage more sustainable:

🍃 Opt for hemp insulation which is more sustainable than foam, stores carbon, and is a superior insulation material which means we may not need a heater at all.
👌 Use up all of the Therma Wrap offcuts to reduce waste, and collect all of the tape waste for soft plastics recycling rather than throwing it in the bin
♻️ Reuse the subfloor our van came with
💚 Freecycled our bulkhead so someone else will get to use it!
🤝 Passed on the leftover hemp and Therma Wrap to Risi’s mum who’s building a tiny house 😎
