Because the iPhone is a quad-band cellphone, International support is built right in. I took my iPhone to Argentina and it just worked on the cell networks there. This video shows the additional drop-down option for carrier selection that you get when you have multiple network choices. Everything worked including EDGE network and Visual Voicemail except CallerID was blocked when people called from the US. As the phone has International assist when dialing, I could dial all my contacts in the US without modification. All in all, a very painless process.
