UK constructs world’s largest infrared telescope: The VISTA Telescope #entrepreneur #innovation

Over the last 13 years, an incredible piece of #technology in Chile has been quietly reshaping our understanding of the Milky Way. It’s called VISTA—the Visible and Infrared Survey Telescope for Astronomy—and it’s been part of an ambitious project to map our galaxy.

VISTA was conceived and developed by a consortium of 18 universities in the UK, led by Queen Mary, University of London. It became an in-kind contribution to the European Southern Observatory project (ESO).
