This is a lecture in our online course available at Udemy where you can learn to influence the behavior of your website visitors using colors by understanding the physiological, psychological, and social influence of individual hues; learn how colors influence users' actions; and learn how the science of color psychology is used in web design to improve user experience and conversion rates.

Here's an excerpt from this lecture:

Triadic color schemes use three colors equally spaced around the color wheel. They can be difficult to do well but add a lot of visual interest to a design when they are, as they offer a strong visual contrast while still retaining harmony and a richness of color.

They aren’t as jarring as complementary colors. They can be vibrant even when the colors are unsaturated, and they have stability because each color in the triad balances the other two. There is a simple relationship between the colors which can be dynamic.

You may consider using one of the colors as the dominant color and the other two for accents. Using a very pale or dark version of one color in the triad, along with two shades/tones/tints of the other two colors makes the single color almost work as a neutral within the scheme.

Alternately, using one very bright hue paired with muted hues makes the single bright hue stand out more. Triadic color schemes often work well on websites since one color can be chosen for the background and the remaining two can be chosen for content due to the contrast. A nicely chosen triadic harmony can help the resolution of a binary opposition, speaking in terms of symbolism.
