This is a brief video on how to upgrade or replace RAM in MacBook Pro computer.
Please note the maximum accepted RAM expansion before proceeding on your own with the upgrade. If you are unsure how it should be done, please visit nearest Apple store for professional guidance and help.
The upgrade was done from 4GB (original manuf.) to 8GB of RAM for this mid 2010 MacBook Pro model.
Important Hints:
MacBook Pro (15-inch, Mid 2010) - Technical Specifications can be found at Apple's main webpage.
RAM Type:
4GB (two 2GB SO-DIMMs) of 1066MHz DDR3 memory or, two SO-DIMM slots support up to 8GB
Before working on the computer:
1. Shut down the computer.
2. Wait 5 to 10 minutes to allow the computer's internal components to cool down.
3. Unplug all external cables from the computer except the power cord.
4. Touch the metal chassis of the computer to discharge any static electricity from your body.
5. Remove the power cord.
SO-DIMMs must meet these specifications:
Manufacturer installed 4GB (two 2GB SO-DIMMs) of 1066MHz DDR3 SODIMM
Logic board architecture supports up to 8GB of RAM
IMPORTANT:
BEFORE WORKING ON YOUR COMPUTER, MAKE SURE YOU ARE ESD SAFE!
Just Google the word ESD and find out how to prevent electrostatic build up. If you wash your hands with water before working on your computer, it can prevent electrostatic build up considerably. Make sure you don't have any excess water on your hands.
Prior to any work, disconnect power cord and all cables/connectors of any device connected to your computer.
